Question: Hi Revoltz, thank you for taking the time to chat to us during this busy Christmas period, could you please introduce yourself and give us a brief history of your gaming experience?
Answer: Hey, in Call of Duty 4 I started with a mix team of Dutch players from Medal of Honor who later went on to join the successful DCC Gaming/KomaCrew/Button Bashers, from there I moved onto Infused for a long period and after the first season of the ESL Pro Series I joined Reason Gaming where I’m still playing. Aside from gaming, I’m a 19 year old student currently studying History in my first year.
Question: What hobbies do you have other than gaming, and what does a typical day in the life of Revoltz entail?
Answer: To be honest gaming is my only real hobby that I dedicate some time to, I don’t have time for anything else or would want to pick anything else up (currently). Typical day at Uni would be to wake up at some time during the day, attend my seminars/lectures, dabble in QuakeLive, eat some food, play some Call of Duty and then reserve the rest of the evening for general socialising whether that is going out, enjoying the local tastes or watching a movie.
Question: A couple of months ago you brought in some replacements, making the team entirely from the UK, how have Soclon and Duffer bonded within the team and the Reason Organisation?
Answer: I think we have bonded pretty well, that was never going to a problem anyway in my eyes since we had known both players over the past few years from attending every major European event. Fortunately they are both socially clued up guys, which is what I want in every team I play in – if you get on well socially you have more chance of succeeding in anything you do in life. Our only problems have been scheduling, but we have worked that out now and aim to practice for the upcoming events later on in January.
Question: Can you tell us about your teammates and explain the different roles of each member of the team?
Answer:
Lighters: Seen as the most stable player in the UK and probably in Europe as well, can clutch most situations and is the stable head of any team. It is almost impossible to make him angry in-game, although Tom tries his best sometimes..
SoCLoN: Probably the most outwardly talented player in the game when he is on his game. His knowledge and understanding of what goes on is second to none, combined with incredible aim it’s pretty unlucky for anybody we face.
Duffer: Huge motivator and aggressive player, when he is playing well he lets everybody know which is great for team spirit. Has awesome aim and game knowledge due to hours of cb mixes with StuwOw.
D1ablo: “The D” if he doesn’t get naded six rounds in a row then he is the most consistent entry fragger in the game, nobody has better aim than him who takes an SMG so I’m always confident when he is in clutch situations or stuck in an impossible corner that if anybody will get out – its him.
Question: What do you think your greatest strength as a player is?
Answer: Definitely not my aim – it’s solid enough for sure but it’s not my greatest strength. I’d probably say my knowledge of the game and how I read what other players are thinking are probably my greatest strengths, makes the rest come along quite simply.
Question: Who is the most important person in your team, who always takes charge in tense moments, or gives you a laugh at the right time?
Answer: Tom makes me laugh the most so I’ll go with him.
Question: What’s your best LAN memory?
Answer: I would probably say either winning LAN79 or any of the summer LANs I’ve attended, especially the events in Belgium. There is so much to do in any of the Antwerp events that I always look forward to them and enjoy the nights.
Question: At which LANs will we see Reason Gaming attend this and how do you think you fare there?
Answer: So far it’s just the Crossfire event in March as we will have to skip Frag-o-Matic due to scheduling issues around that time. If we put in the practice then we are within the group of five teams to win the event, I would be disappointed with anything other than top three.
Question: How does the future of the CoD4 competitive scene look in your eyes, especially after the shambles about servers for MW2?
Answer: Call of Duty 4 looks pretty solid for the future, MW2 was a complete flop regardless of servers the game itself is not playable competitively in my eyes. CoD4 has cups run a regular basis by Heaven Media to keep the activity up and if the community keeps supporting events then 2010 could be another strong year for the game in my eyes.
Question: Thanks for taking the time to talk us Revoltz, any shout outs?
Answer: No problem, just like to thank our wonderful sponsors Sapphire, Razer and Verygames.
